RMFMCB welcomes attorneys Kiera E. Kenniff and Toni Ann Marabello.

Rubenstein Meyerson Fox Mancinelli Conte & Bern, P.A. recently welcomed our newest associates, Kiera E. Kenniff and Toni Ann Marabello.

Kiera is an attorney in the firm’s divorce and matrimonial law department.  Kiera previously clerked for the Honorable Linda Grasso Jones, J.S.C. of the Family Division in the Monmouth County Superior Court. Since completing her clerkship, Kiera worked exclusively in the areas of matrimonial and family law, and has appeared in court throughout northern New Jersey.

Toni Ann Marabello is a member of the firm’s estate planning, estate administration, real estate and municipal law practice.  Toni currently serves as a Public Defender for the Borough of Oakland, New Jersey.  Toni is admitted to the Bars of the State of New Jersey and New York as well as the United States District Court for the State of New Jersey and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Bergen County Bar Association and Women Lawyers in Bergen County.  Toni currently serves as President-Elect of the Bergen County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.

RMFMCB announces launch of Municipal Court Division

Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A. has launched a division for the purpose of handling all municipal court matters.

These matters would include motor vehicle violations, violations for driving while intoxicated, assault, harassment, neighborhood dispute issues and any other municipal court actions.

The new division will be headed by former municipal court judges and prosecutors, Lawrence N. Meyerson and John A. Conte, Jr. and former public defender, Robert J. Mancinelli.

Attorney Meyerson served as municipal court judge, prosecutor and public defender for the Borough of Hillsdale and Attorney Conte has served the Borough of Oakland as judge, prosecutor and public defender as well as public defender for the Borough of Norwood, Elmwood Park and the Township of Saddle Brook.  Mr. Conte also served as judge for the Central Judicial Processing Court in Bergen County which was established in July 2016.  Attorney Mancinelli served as Public Defender for the Borough of River Vale and also has extensive municipal court experience.

RMFMC&B welcomes its newest associate, Julie B. Liva

Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A. welcomes its newest associate, Julie B. Liva.  Julie graduated with English Honors, in three years, from Fairfield University in 2007 with her Bachelor of the Arts degree in English and Professional Writing. Julie earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern-Shepard Broad Law Center in 2012.  After the completion of law school, Julie worked as an Associate Attorney for over four years in the area of Personal Injury law, advocating for and protecting the rights of the injured in courts, arbitrations and depositions. Julie has also appeared in courts throughout the state of New Jersey on Orders to Show Cause for Structure Settlement Transfers.

Julie is admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the State of New Jersey, and the State of Florida.  Julie is a member of the American Bar Association and New Jersey Association for Justice.

RMFMC&B opens Montvale, New Jersey office expansion

Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A. is excited to announce that the expansion of its Montvale, New Jersey office has been completed.  The expansion adds 3,700 square feet to its existing 12,000 square feet of space.  According to Partner Lawrence Meyerson, “the additional space reflects the continuous growth that we have experienced during the recent past and will allow us the flexibility to expand well into the future.”

Originally founded in 1988 by Partners Steven Rubenstein and Lawrence Meyerson, the law firm has since grown to sixteen attorneys practicing in a range of areas, including divorce and matrimonial law, general business law, commercial and estate litigation, guardianship and elder law, commercial and residential real estate and privacy and Internet law, among others.

John A. Conte, Jr. certified as a Civil Trial Attorney

Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A. is proud to announce that Partner, John A. Conte, Jr. has been certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney. An attorney is eligible for Certification only after completing a designated number of days at trial, whether jury or non-jury, successful completion of continuing education and a written examination in civil trial law and being in good standing with the court.  In addition to handling his other expansive areas of the practice of law, John will continue to head civil litigation at the firm.

John A. Conte, Jr. appointed as Judge for new CJP Court

Conte, Jr. has been appointed by the Chief Justice of the New Jersey State Supreme Court as a Judge for the new Central Judicial Processing Court.  The new CJP Court has been established for the specific purpose of expediting first appearances in the criminal court and to set conditions for pretrial release.  Mr. Conte is one of seven municipal judges who have been designated to handle first appearances in Bergen County.  In addition to his private practice with Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A., Mr. Conte serves as the municipal judge for the Borough of Oakland.

Lawrence Meyerson publishes Op-Ed in The Star Ledger

RMFMC&B Partner, Lawrence N. Meyerson, Esq. published an Op-Ed in The Star-Ledger on November 6, 2016.  Titled “Free speech: Where do we draw the line?,” Mr. Meyerson’s Op-Ed addressed our society’s moral obligation to guard against hateful and discriminatory speech.  According to Mr. Meyerson, “It’s a simple rule, the use of words and symbols that denigrate entire groups of people or remind them of the horrors visited upon them, may be legal, but they are immoral and should be publicly shunned.”

Andrew P. Bolson to speak at advanced Estate Planning Seminar

Andrew BolsonRMFMC&B attorney, Andrew Bolson is one of the featured speakers at the seminar, “Advanced Estate Planning in 2017 & Beyond,” which is being held at the Wilshire Grand in West Orange, New Jersey on November 17th.  Sponsored by the New Jersey Bar Association, the seminar will discuss many advanced estate planning topics, including social security planning, when and how to use trust protectors and the income tax consequences upon termination of grantor trust status.  Andrew will be speaking on estate planning for digital assets, such as credit card loyalty points, online passwords and content stored in the cloud.

RMFMC&B Partner Douglas M. Bern presents on election law

Douglas M. Bern, Esq. On October 13, 2016, RMFMC&B Partner, Douglas M. Bern presented at the Election Law seminar sponsored by the New Jersey Bar Association.  The seminar focused on an array of election related topics, including Election Petitions and Ballot Design, Recounts and Election Contests and Initiatives and Referendums.  Mr. Bern presented on the topic, Press Relations in Political Campaigns.  Specifically, Mr. Bern’s presentation focused on building skills for effective press relations, as well as understanding evolving journalism trends in the digital age, and understanding the impact of the N.J. Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”) and Wikileaks on press relations.

Other presenters on the panel included an election law judge, a County Clerk, a political blogger, and election law experts.

Mr. Bern has firsthand experience with election matters as a candidate, legislator and lawyer.  Over the past twenty-five years, Mr. Bern has served as a City Councilman, Council President, County Freeholder and Freeholder Chairman.  In addition, Mr. Bern has served as assistant counsel to the New Jersey State Senate.  He has also been involved with numerous petition and election challenges.

In September 2016, Rubenstein, Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli, Conte & Bern, P.A. welcomed two new associate attorneys, Savvy T. Darragh and Matthew N. Nicodemo.  Savvy graduated from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in 2015 and prior to joining the firm, clerked for the Honorable Paul Bottinelli in the Bergen County Superior Court, Family Division.  Savvy is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and will concentrate in matrimonial and family law matters.

Matthew received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 2015.  After graduating from law school, Matthew served as the law clerk to the Honorable Menelaos W. Toskos, J.S.C. in the Bergen County Superior Court, Chancery Division, General Equity Part.  Matthew is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and he will focus his practice in the areas of elder law and guardianship law, estate and commercial litigation, real estate law and general business law.
